Stand-up comic Alice Brine has had a huge social media response to her bid to stage a mass dog walk in Wellington.
The avid walker and dog-lover posted the event - planned for April 9 - on Facebook on Wednesday. By Friday more than 1,000 people said they were going.
Auckland now has a charity associated with 'The Big Dog Walk With Lots of Dogs. Auckland'!! A charity that relies solely on volunteers, 'Chained Dog' is fighting to end the life-chaining of dogs in NZ. 'Chained Dog' aims to inform the general public about the cruelty of long-term chaining or incarceration of dogs and to alleviate the animals' suffering where possible through education and support of their existing owners.
We're now associated with a new charity in Wellington, HUHA (Helping You Help Animals). Helping you help animals (HUHA) is dedicated to teaching empathy to the community and providing shelter for those less fortunate animals that struggle to survive in today’s disposable culture. The sanctuary is fun and interactive in many ways, designed to encourage our community to be proactive and take responsibility for the welfare of animals and the protection of our unique environment. HUHA actively works everyday to find homes and foster care for a multitude of homeless, abandoned, seized and abused animals.
